A typical path for students targeting Fall 2027 enrollment (2026–27 application cycle). Dates vary — confirm on PharmCAS.
Freshman–Sophomore years
Build your foundation
- Complete intro biology and chemistry sequences
- Explore pharmacy via club events or one shadow day
- Keep science GPA strong — aim for upward trends
Junior year (Fall)
Accelerate prerequisites
- Finish organic chemistry, microbiology, A&P
- Start pharmacy technician job or consistent volunteering
- Research 8–12 target PharmD programs in Texas
Junior year (Spring–Summer)
Prepare to apply
- Complete remaining prereqs; track hours in a spreadsheet
- Ask pharmacists/faculty for letters of recommendation
- Draft personal statement — get feedback early

PharmCAS opens
- Create PharmCAS account and start application
- Order official transcripts
- List all pharmacy and healthcare experiences with hours
Aug–Sep 2026
Submit early
- Submit PharmCAS + school supplemental materials
- Verify each program’s deadlines on PharmCAS
- Continue pharmacy hours if possible
Oct 2026–Jan 2027
Interviews
- Prepare for MMIs or traditional interviews
- Send updates if you gain significant new experience
- Research financial aid and scholarship options
Jan–Mar 2027
Decisions
- Compare acceptances, scholarships, and total cost
- Visit campuses if invited to interview days
- Accept seat by deadline (often May 1)
Aug 2027
Start PharmD
- Complete onboarding and immunization requirements
- Connect with APhA-ASP and classmates early
